Sem 1 Year 3

Yes, Sem 1 Year 3 has come and gone. So quickly, but the process was slow. I have to say i was struggling quite a bit during this specialization semester. Not problems with my work, but with myself. It was really hard staying motivated and being disciplined. I have to say this is the worst of me in my entire time at The One Academy. I was late for class , I skipped submissions/deadlines , skipped lecturer critiques. All because i was constantly slacking and lazy ..... Im glad it's over.




But I would have never make it this far if not for my friends. They have stood by me, keeping me in check, slapping me in my face and rejecting my invites for a game of DOTA2 because they know Im in trouble. I thank you all. And im sorry if i ticked of some off you during my.... "emo phase" and i hope you guys will forgive me. I really am sorry.

I would also like to thank to my wonderful lecturers to have so much patience with me and putting up with my inconsistency in work progress. And also for the knowledge and critics that help me better my works.
Thanks.

Now i just want to rest and do other stuff and prepare....

FOR THE FINAL PROJECT.

Yes, it's finally here. The final project which we are require to form in groups of 4-6 from different specializations to come up with a short animation film of about 2minutes. Yes i agree it is short but heck, the seniors look so stressed and rushed, and merely a handful make the deadline. Oh well, Im glad I made it into a group of close people i know and had LOADS of experience working with.

So yes, Im excited and ready to go! Oh, yes and i'll post my recent works below. ENJOY !!

So this semester we started on character animation and it was really new to me as before this we only concentrated on body mechanics. This sem we learned more about character building and personality and much much more. So this was what i was able to come up with. Enjoy !

My 1st time really getting into Adobe Aftereffects. Learned a lot. We we're require to animate text limited to our Class name and ID along with a few options of music he supplied us with. And the lecturer advised not to follow the overly cliche text animations that we find online. So this is what i came up with.

However he said there wasn't much "text" so i didn't score. oh well. enjoy!

Public Service Announcement <<<
Too lazy to upload. Youtube it is!

So we have a subject called Composting and Editing this semester which basically let us in on Adobe After effects and Premiere, Post production stuff. So this is one of our final projects for this sem is to make a short advertisement, music video , public service announcement or commercial

Well i went with the shortest and easiest (which i was wrong) Public service announcement. Oh well, wasn't able to egt a good camera but oh well, Enjoy.

Oh yeah , The ING insurance thing at the end is because we we're required to add sponsors , kinda like a TV thing.

Chinese new year!

So it's the first day of the chinese new year today. So i guess i'll just some things up.

Well i have tried to be more actively involved in art ? But well, my lazy side is still pretty much dragging me everywhere . =[  oh well, sculpting is fun, Im trying to sculp big daddy from Bioshock 2. And in animation we have to finish our blocking after cny.

Btw, i tried for the Local (well, singapore) League of Legends (awesome game , i suck at it tho)  FANART COMPETITION!! Well i made it into the top 10, however didn't seem to make it to the finalist. Ohwell.
Here is my entry, "Katarina the Sinister Blade". 

Yeah , Don't do much characters. But to be honest i had fun with this piece. Rather then the regular environment ones which I take too long to finish cause it gets boring. I just cant get the level of result i want and the satisfaction isn't there, and soon enought, the piece just need to gets finish and move on to the next. Just like this one....

Oh well, I have a week of holiday now. But lots of heavy assignments. But yet im too lazy to tend to any of them WHICH i should and MUST attend too because its getting too late... But... TEAM FORTRESS 2!!!!!! its so fun omggggggg..... meh....

Year 3 sem 1

So as enthusiastically i started out this year, well reality kicks in and yes, its hard to keep my new eyar resolutions. Still trying. Well this sem sound very serious when the lecturers briefed us about how hardcore we should be taking on our animation major.

So yeah I'M PAINTING TOO SLOW. And my painting keep changes , cause i take too long and the moode changes , contents, wtv. Some paintings even get split into 3 individuals. Need alot more practice. Im working too slow.

Oh well, only 2 paintings to show since last post.. forgive me . *headesk*

Hope i get more productive... soon... not much time left. GAMBATEH!

Year 2 sem 3. Major here i come!

Finally!! This short semesters are TOUGH!

What supposingly to be 7 weeks extend to as long as 11 !!! I never stayed up and skip sleep so many times in a single semester before. GOD! anyway, not to bore you with the usual's. Let's go straight to what I have to show!

First Off concept art!

CONCEPT ART 2

This Semester I was though none other then the amazing Bram Leech himself. His deviant art (His DA)
is awesome so check it out!. So well we basically have to come up with a simple story and then Design your Hero , 2 villains and 2 environments, much freedom was given. I can honestly say I learned alot this sem, and I think I have improved alittle ?

SYNOPSIS 

In 2083, Planet Earth have been colonized by aliens. Man kind and the alien race  are able to work out their differences and live together .  Soon more and more aliens came to stop by to trade goods and harvest from other planets , turning earth into one of the space dock hotspots. But humans have suffer the consequences , as human are still a very young species compared to the advanced alien species all around the galaxy, Human rights have been neglected and abused by aliens. Thus, most humans are forced to live in the outskirts of the city doing hard labour. Only the educated and fortunate few live in the city.

 Having his partner, senior field agent Ziench , went rogue  after a retrieval mission. Icarus, our protagonist , is unwilling to accept the fact that his partner has betrayed him and so he tries to track down his former mentor to clear things up and bring him back to his senses. But little does he know, that the puppet master behind all the happening is something that he least expected.

First Villain - Ziench, the friend, the partner, the traitor. 

So Ziench is the close friend, partner, and traitor. The first villain, betraying the hero for his believes. He is based water creatures. Design of his hair is like anemone  and has 5 tentacle for each hand , which requires him to put on special equipments to allow him to interact with human technology.



Second Villain - Dane Charles,The idealist, humanitarian , MONSTER

Okay so, Here is Dane Charles, by far one of the favourites among the 3 designs. My friends like him the most too. Well he's a sad piece of work really, as i said before, human we're being thrown around and only a few with higher influence or power can stay at the top. Dane Charles was a weak man on a chair, cripled, But rich, very rich. However he despises the aliens, he hates them. Running a Research facility, he secretly study on advaced aliens, trying to find out weaknesses , trying to change man kinds fate, trying to evolve. So he took various DNA's containing only the Strong features and Transformed him into THE MONSTER. His ideology was his obsession, and Ziench was his pawn.



Hero - Icarus, the joke , bird and heart.

 

And here is the hero. Icarus , because he was designed after a Sparrow. He is half alien and half man. As humans and aliens we're never going to get along, he was forced to stuck in the middle. As you can see he has a weird skin disorder and has tiny wings tucked in. Never different enough to be different, never normal enough to be normal. Alone and weak.

Environment 1 - Baqceti Street

Well as people start getting driven away fromt he cities by big companies run by aliens, Man was soon pushed to the edge to start another life at the outskirts,bringing their culture with them. This is one of many million street filled with Culture mash up as Man has to adapt and learnt o live in harmony with one another.

Environment 2 - City Harbour 27

Advanced cities and sky scrapers, Docking area for space travelers and traders all over our solar system.Cold dark, signs of human culture depleted.

MODELING 2 

Yeah, I still have alot of problems learning how to texture. I don't know how to bump properly and specular is like Gibberish to me. Although, I realize not , however Modeling is so ever cool to me in the final product, i realize i do not enjoy the process of it . So i picked to specialize in Animation over Modeling as we are made to choose 1 our of 3 including VFX.

ahh sem break.. why am i wasting you!!

Haven't been doing much lately. Being myself, Laaaazy. Just alot of sleeping. Resting. Stoning. Playing.

SEM BREAK!!!!

 ALRIGHT!!!! sem break!! wooh! liek finally.
SERIOUSLY
However lecturer said this would be our toughest semester through out the entire course, but we (my coursemates) and i made it through. Now whats left is the results.

LEARNED ALOOOTTTT !!! and I guess i have still a very long way to go!

will be exploring quite alot to some inspirations I came across during the sem which I didn't seem to be able to find time to allocate for exploring. Will be trying out different styles, medium and most importantly, colours and strokes.

AHHH THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD STUFF I WANNA LEARN.

oh well, okay let's get to the point . here are few stuff I did during my semester. ENJOY!

First off is Concept Art and Conceptual rendering which the grading goes side by side. Concept Art is well, designing,shadow projection, exercising drawing skill, perspective etc . haha . but conceptual rendering goes side by side because concerptual rendering teach how to render/paint digitally.

1) Malaysian Back Alley - 1st project . Its 7-11 and a RAMLEE STAND! i <3 ramlee burgursss!!!
2) Flood Gates of the Round Castle - 2nd project. Some more studies.

This is the final project whereby we are required to form a group and redesign the scenes from a movie.
The movie we chose is the Count of Monte Cristo.
The top 3 are sketches are thumbs . The bottom 2 are the final pieces. An interior of the prison and the bottom one is in some sea valley thingy haha.

well we had 14 weeks to do this from reference break down > blocking > proxy modeling > hi res modeling > UV and texture > lighting > passes and finally composting in AE.

Learnt alot and it's been a really pain and fun process at the same time.

The final result is okay but i could've done better if i didn't slack off at the end of the sem hahaha. HOPE U GUYS DIGGG!!!!

Last semester's works. (2nd year 1st semester)

 My 3D M7 Priest Tank modeling. First time exposed to Maya Autodesk. Animation of the tank is done later during the same sem. (Video is in the previous post!)


Drawing for Animation. Something like, a design proposal to your client kinda thing. Wasn't really sure how to do it at that time so yeah XD.

 Well this was suppose to be the front cover but it's reject lol!

 This is a robot battle scout. Code name RY-4N or Ryan . LOL!

 And this is Erebos.
Both is done during the same sem. Erebos came first.
